Holroyd, Grace Jones

Grace Elsie Holroyd, 72, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday in the Wabash Valley Nursing Home at Montezuma, where she had been a patient a year. She had been in failing health the last three years. Mrs. Holroyd was a daughter of Nelson and Nancy Wright Jones and was born west of Perrysville Aug. 28, 1890. She was a member of the Perrysville Methodist Church and OES Chapter 302 and formerly was a school teacher in that community. She married Newton C. Holroyd Dec. 24, 1913. They moved from the Perrysville community to Crawfordsville in 1919, living here until 1959. Her husband died Sept. 11 of that year. Survivors include a son, Francis N. of Louisville; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Carithers of Perrysville, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. today at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, where friends may call. Dr. Eric Dean of Wabash College will officiate, and burial will be in the Hicks Cemetery at Perrysville. – jlr
